We have had several weeks now of more positive and optimistic news with the number of cases dropping, and the number of vaccinations increasing, resulting in the bigger news this week of Ontario advancing to Step 3 of the re-opening plan on Friday, July 16, 2021. Free rapid screening kits will remain available throughout the summer to assist businesses in creating safe workplaces, please take advantage of this program where possible. The Brantford-Brant Chamber has currently distributed 9,500 test kits to over 100 businesses in the Brantford and Brant-County area.
Substantial advocacy efforts are continuing as well with all levels of government to renew, sustain, or improve business supports and programs. On July 12th, 2021, the Minister of Economic Development and Official Languages, launched $500-million in funding for the new Tourism Relief Fund. Eligible organizations can now submit applications to support the tourism sector prepare to welcome back domestic travelers and reposition Canada as a world-class destination.
