In developing our May issue of InTouch Magazine, Chamber staff realized that we have engaged eight different students on work-integrated learning placements at the Chamber over the past twelve months. It is a long-standing, unique feature of our Chamber that our education and training members and partners are engaged so deeply in our work and are so important to the development of our local workforce. This week, we are pleased to launch regular features of our current students on our Instagram page and to welcome Alex Dow from Conestoga College, completing a three-week placement as part of the Office Administration – Executive Program. Alex will be developing our Chamber Re-accreditation application.
This week the Chamber was also pleased to partner with both the BHNCDSB and GEDSB to present Skilled Trades: Unleash Your Potential, a special event featuring Chamber members Ark Electrical and J.P. Bowman, highlighting several apprentices with exciting careers in the skilled trades. This builds on our partnerships with the school boards and the Workforce Planning Board of Grand Erie on the OYAP program. The WFPBGE has launched Skills 2 Advance for free training for several in-demand areas.
Our friends at St. Leonard’s, the County of Brant, and the Paris and District Chamber of Commerce are hosting a Job Fair on May 12, register here.
Finally, this week we will record the first of several ChamberTV Election 2022 episodes, in partnership with RogersTV leading up to the Provincial Election on June 2nd 2022. Look for episodes to feature each of the candidates meeting our candidate’s policy, and for our members-only Meet and Greet on Tuesday, May 10th, in advance of the Chamber’s Candidates’ Debate.
