The dynamic weather of a Canadian spring will keep us guessing on outdoor activities for the next two months or so, but it will be great to get out and support local businesses safely. A number of members have expressed interest in how they can help Ukraine. The Canadian Chamber’s ‘How businesses and Canadians can help Ukraine’ webpage includes links to the specific areas of greatest need that outline meaningful ways to assist and make donations. The page also includes key information from Global Affairs Canada related to trade sanctions and information on ways that businesses can support humanitarian efforts. This page will be updated as the situation develops.
The Canada-Ukraine Chamber of Commerce is working with The Ukrainian Canadian Congress to help provide job placements for Ukrainians who are arriving in Canada. If you are aware of open positions within your networks and would like to assist with this or other related matters, please contact Olha Mandyuk at omandyuk@cucc.ca. Additionally, for those interested in volunteering their time/expertise in support of Ukrainians affected by the war in Ukraine, you can also share your information with The Ukrainian Canadian Congress here.
The Chamber of Commerce Brantford-Brant, as a member of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce, is committed to supporting efforts by our government and allies to take strong measures to end the conflict and help the Ukrainian people. We express our solidarity with the Ukrainian people and the Ukrainian business community during these tragic times for their country. The Chamber will suspend issuing certificates of origin to companies exporting to Russia while the conflict is ongoing in Ukraine (with the exception of certificates related to any humanitarian goods on a case-by-case basis).
March also brings some excitement in our celebration of Past President Ken McNaughton at our AGM and Presidents Event on March 29th, sponsored by Advantage Group. Please join us for a toast to Ken’s leadership, to review our 2021 year, and to get together with friends and colleagues in the Chamber. Look forward to seeing you there, in person!
